We attended an admissions info session and tour. One of the presenters was a male-to-female student who said “Brandeis supports every student’s passion. I have a friend who is passionate about accessing gender affirming care, and Brandeis has helped him, just like me.”
This female student appears to have had her breasts removed, and had facial beard.
It seems like Brandeis will help students with mental problems like gender dysphoria self-harm, and they think this is a selling point for potential families, not a red flag. The fact that they would platform and promote this student is extremely concerning. ~ Parent
Our daughter went to Brandeis and at her request was placed in a dorm room on the “queer” floor. She made many friendships of gay, lesbian and trans students. Soon the majority of her friends were identifying as trans. She had struggled with depression and anxiety and so went to the counseling center for help. They referred her to a nearby Planned Parenthood for cross sex hormones. We attempted to communicate our concern with the counseling center, they would not communicate with us, or make any effort to understand her history of previous mental health issues and/or co-morbidities. We told our child that we wanted her to wait until she completed her bachelors degree to begin any type of medicalization. We were trying to buy time, hoping for more maturity. We told her if she went forward with medicalization we would not continue to pay her tuition ($70,000. Per year). She emancipated from us, reapplied for financial aid and got a full ride at Brandeis. She dropped out not long after starting testosterone and went no contact with us. At her choosing (NOT ours) we have not spoken to her or seen her in six years. ~ Parent
